Bourbon
Currently the most popular type of American whiskey and the one exported in the greatest numbers. To be called bourbon the whiskey must be made from a mash of grains containing at least 51% corn. The definition also requires this type of whiskey to be matured in new oak barrels. There is no minimum maturation requirement and bourbon whiskey can be made in any part of the USA.
