There are additional types of American whiskey, although not as well-known as the main three types, there are many newer distilleries who have decided to create some of these lesser known styles.

Malt Whiskey – While it is often seen as something distinctly Scottish or Irish, there are American whiskey companies also producing Malt Whiskey, using malted barley as the predominant ingredient.

Corn Whiskey – A rarer form of American whiskey, Corn Whiskey must be made from a mash bill of at least 80% corn. As opposed to a 51% corn to be classified as Bourbon whiskey.
