THE FIVE FLAVOURS

CHOOSE YOUR FAVOURITE

Sweet treats – Honey, Vanilla & Cream

Who doesn’t love a sweet treat? Believe it or not, many whiskies do have a very sweet taste to them, accentuated by the type of oak cask that they have been matured in. The predominant flavours in these oak influenced whiskies would be soft vanilla, smooth honey and a creamy finish.

Floral Blooms – Grass, Barley & Heather

Like flowers in bloom these whiskies will entice you with wondrous aromas. They tend to be lighter, fresher styles of whisk(e)y with verdant grassy notes coming to the fore. This gentle style is common in Japanese, Irish and Lowland Scotch whiskies.

The Lighter Side – Oak, Citrus & Nuts

Subtle yet wonderfully complex, the Lighter Side encompasses a plethora of delicate aromas and flavours, including soft oak, orange zest and toasted nuts. These are fabulous whiskies that deserve to be sipped and savoured.

An array of richness – Dried fruits, Chocolate & Spice

In the mood for something totally decadent and indulgent? Then, go no further than these whiskies that explode on the palate with lavish notes of dried fruit, dark chocolate and warm spice. Sherry cask finishes, which bring that rich intensity, are common in this category.

Holy Smokes – Peat, Sea & Smoke

Welcome to the world of smoke and peat. One of the most distinctive styles of whisky, typified by drams from the islands of Scotland, Holy Smokes are big and bold yet multi layered. From delicate sweet smoke to punchy peat bombs and everything in between, this iconic style has many different facets.
