From a stunning combination of American Bourbon casks, Sherry butts and Sicilian Marsala wine casks comes the rebirth of the finest whiskey from Mitchells & Sons Spot Range.

After almost 50 years away, this is arguably one of the greatest examples of Single Pot Still whiskey in Ireland.

Red Spot is the oldest whiskey in the Spot family, a distinctive range of whiskey from Irish Distillers in Cork and the Mitchell family in Dublin, who have been engaged in the wine and spirits business for over a century. It is one of the most famous single pot still whiskies in Ireland.

The whiskey in Red Spot is at least 15 years old although there are older whiskey elements too. A whiskey maker can only state the age of the youngest whiskey contained within it despite having much older whiskey blended with it also. Red Spot is triple distilled and triple-casked, creating a luscious and full-bodied complex single pot still Irish whiskey.
Red Spot is matured in oloroso sherry butts and Sicilian marsala seasoned wine casks after a lengthy maturation in ex-bourbon. The American oak brings its own character before the whiskey is transferred to sherry butts and the marsala casks.

The combination of the three casks creates a ripe fruit sweetness, summer jam and rich black pepper character.

The Spot range of whiskies, which includes Green, Yellow and Blue Spot is an integral part of the Dublin whiskey making story. It was created by Mitchell & Sons in the late 1800s and thrived in the city for many decades. As the whiskey market declined, certain bottlings were discontinued to suit economic pressures, including Red Spot.

When the decision was made to reintroduce it, on the back of the huge growth in Irish whiskey, it was met with huge interest.

brought back in recent years and has been a huge hit with consumers. The Sicilian marsala wine casks, in combination with the oloroso Spanish sherry butts and American oak create rich and complex flavours.

You'll find really interesting layers within this whiskey, including black pepper, sweet red pepper, toasted American oak and black cherry. This premium Irish whiskey has matured for at least 15 years and the rich cooked fruit and baked apple notes remain steadfastly present in the bottle.

Red Spot is the richest of the Spot family whiskies. It has layers of rich and complex flavours including baked apple, black pepper, dark spice, rich cooked fruit, jam and toasted American oak. It is smooth and silky with a delicious spicy undercurrent.
Yes and no. It is famously from Dublin but since Irish Distillers took over its production it has moved to Cork. However, it is still considered to be one of the distinctively Dublin whiskies as it was made there since the late 1800s.
There are four core whiskies in the spot family: Red, Yellow, Green and Blue Spot. In addition there are a number of special releases and single cask bottlings.

The most famous of the special releases is the Green Spot Chateau Leoville Barton.
