Keeper’s Heart is a young, Minneapolis-based whiskey distillery run by one of the most famous Irish whiskey makers in the world, Brian Nation. He moved from Irish Distillers in co Cork in Ireland in 2022 and has been developing the core range of Keeper’s Heart whiskies since.

This bottle of Keeper’s Heart Irish American is a combination of Irish and American whiskey, creating something entirely new. It is a blend of Irish grain and Irish pot still whiskey with American rye whiskey.

Using freshly charred oak casks to marry the three whiskey components the people behind it created a remarkable drinking experience.

Tasting notes

Aroma

On the nose you will discover lemon zest, baking spices and a hint of stewed fruit with a pleasant spiced caramel coming from the single pot still element.

Taste

The palate on this blended whiskey is smooth with notes of sweet biscuits, candied ginger and malted barley.

Finish

The finish continues the sweet elements with lingering notes of spices, candy sweetness and ginger, vanilla lemon zest.

The grain whiskey in this release is a combination of maize and malt and has been matured for over four years in freshly charred oak American refill bourbon barrels.

The triple-distilled pot still whiskey element is also four years matured in the same cask type but with a combination of malted and unmalted barley.

The rye element in Keeper’s Heart Irish American whiskey then is 95% American rye whiskey matured in virgin American oak.

The marriage of all three whiskies creates unique qualities that conjure flavours like lemon zest, sweet biscuits, stewed fruit and places them at the heart of this Irish American whiskey.
