Ardbeg 10

Peaty perfection in every drop of Ardbeg 10. The nose brings sweet smoke and toffee and leads to a palate of pepper and cinnamon. A smooth finish shows why this is one of the most popular of all Islay whiskies.

For many whisky fans, Ardbeg ten years old is the ultimate Islay malt whisky. It’s a complex single malt with an intense smoky fruit flavour profile. Of all the Islay malts it’s particularly well known for its peat infused natural sweetness and tarry espresso and brine infused flavour.

Today Ardbeg is revered around the world with the full range encompassing some of the peatiest, smokiest, most complex single malt scotch whisky on the market. It’s always non-chill filtered.

Ardbeg 10-year-old single malt is a stalwart among the collection, returned to again and again by fans with a passionate following for this cult malt.

Tasting notes

Aroma
The nose of this Islay single malt scotch whisky comes wrapped in sizzling cinnamon, spiced toffee and waxy dark chocolate. Notes of zesty lemon and fresh pear permeate the aroma too, with lots of ripe bananas underneath.

Palate
It’s on the taste that the Ardbeg 10-year-old really lifts, with lots of tarry rope, toasted almonds, soft barley and crackling peat sets the tone while black pepper pops in the background.

Finish
The finish is superb with a delicious sweetness rewarding the flavour explosions of the palate and a bold menthol underpinning the tarry ropes with a perfect balance.

Ardbeg prides itself on being a leader in world whisky and driving the peaty paradox of its profile ever further. The 10 year old bottle is a wonderful entry-level introduction to the brand.

Ardbeg distillery is owned by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy who market the brand to the world as the peatiest Islay malt. whether this is true or not is a question for drinkers more than marketing teams but the company is not facing an uncertain future. Popularity in Ardbeg continues to grow everywhere that single malt scotch whisky is sold.
