History of Caperdonich Distillery

Once a prominent feature along the banks of the River Spey, the Caperdonich distillery is named after the Gaelic for secret well. The distillery was initially built opposite the Glen Grant distillery. What makes this distillery exciting is the way that it produced peated and unpeated whisky. Rare these days for a Speysider.

The distillery had experienced a number of years being closed, before it was finally dismantled in 2011.

Bottles of Caperdonich survive today as part of the Secret Speyside collection from Pernod Ricard UK, a range of their lesser known more elusive whiskies. With the ages from 18 to 30 including some of those rare peated Speysiders, this is a great opportunity to try the last of the Caperdonich portfolio before it is gone for good.
