Famously fruity best describes what comes out of the casks at this charmingly remote highland distillery. Fettercairn’s distinctive unicorn symbol is of course the symbol of Scotland for hundreds of years. Yet this elder statemen of Scottish distilleries has remain very much under the radar for many years, with mostly aficionados knowing about this particularly tropical dram.
Founded in 1824 the distillery has gained a reputation for doing things a little differently, with unique stills and distinctive cooling rings to craft a sweet spirit. The latest releases include a 22-year-old and a 28-year-old. Both exceptionally complex whiskies with soft tropical notes that linger long on the palate.
