Campbeltown Scotch Whisky

The three distilleries that make up the current Campbeltown region, are proof of the heritage of Scotland’s smallest whisky producing region. Once home to over 30 distilleries , the Kintyre town could have easily been called the capital of Scotch whiskey. The history that built up at the at the height of this region’s success, is maintained in the 3 remaining distilleries, Springbank, Glen Scotia and Glengyle. The quiet and rural Kintyre peninsula has plenty to offer the whisky maker, fields of barley, fresh water and peat bogs all of which have contributed to an individual style unique to the region. It can be a long drive to get there, but it is certainly well worth it, as this small region showcases all that is best in the history and tradition of Scotch whisky.
