Glenkinchie Distillers Edition 2021 was a notable member to arrive in this award-winning series. With a soft and crisp grape personality with very faint peppery notes, the enormous malt character contrasts beautifully with the early biscuit sweetness of this single malt.

Glenkinchie is a Lowland whisky maker and, as such, often falls beneath the radar of whisky fans more used to the robust peat of Islay or the intense sherried sweetness of Speyside. This journey to the far south of Scotland introduces an astonishing balance to the Scottish whisky story with drier notes and a thin fruitiness that suits the malted barley incredibly well.

Matured in ex-bourbon and finished for a lengthy period in ex-Amontillado cask wood it comes wrapped in a nuttiness that matches the Glenkinchie Distillers Edition 2021 perfectly.

Aroma: This lowland single malt offers attractive dry aromas and lots of amontillado sherry character. There’s lots of oak on the nose of this elegant and crisp pour that rounds out to a wonderful hint of spice.

Taste: The palate, dry and inviting, is derived from the double matured cask wood. Glenkinchie Distillers Edition 2021 offers an astonishing balance between sweet and dry, pulling the sweet notes from the malted barley and cask wood.

Finish: The finish is dry and spicy with a medium length, revealing more of the nutty nose, brisk with malt.

Award winner

This is not a regular release but a special edition and a member of the Glenkinchie Distillers Edition series. This acclaimed series won gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2008 and has become a default title series for the Lowland distillery.
