History of Teeling Distillery

In the heart of the liberties, an area of Dublin synonymous with distillers and brewers, we saw the rebirth of distilling in the area with the opening of the Teeling distillery. The first of Dublin’s four new distilleries in this current renaissance of Irish whiskey.

In 1782 Walter Teeling set up a distillery in Marrowbone Lane, also in the Liberties area of Dublin. Several generations later John Teeling was responsible for establishing the Cooley distillery in County Louth. The current distillery opened in 2015 by Jack and Stephen Teeling, along with master distiller Alex Chasko, making it the first new distillery in Dublin for 125 years.

Many of the Teeling brands on the market today are from stock secured from another source, while the whiskey produced in Dublin matures in warehouses.
